"MY FRIEND PAUL"  By  Bobbi Humphrey

You see, I know this man named Paul. And that makes my life very different from most; Paul is my friend. I will say from the outset that my words will be brief, for now, as a combination of lack of sleep, elation, and "processing are in effect now. But, this will not be the last time that you'll hear me speak of him. Remember, Paul is my friend.

Yesterday, as we spent countless hours together; talking, eating sharing stories, working on my website (Ain't it nice!), I was amazed at this human being, my friend, named Paul. As I am a very sincere and sentimental person, it was no wonder that I thought of my first memory of what it means to be a friend, to have a friend. Remember? You learned the beauty of sharing a toy, play, jokes, secrets, sorrows, challenges. Just whenever you were around your friend, you had your confirmation that this Life thing was kinda special, kinda sweet, and you were anxious and anticipating when would you experience those special moments again with your friend.

Really, I believe, at the end of the day, in life, all we really have are these moments and each other. And that every time, as human beings, our paths cross, a spiritual exchange is made. For, all energy, good or bad, is forever, and grows exponentially. Energy never dies. So, when we make the choice on how to maximize the moments, we also have the option, the opportunity on how we use that energy. Choice is such a powerful blessing! Always choose to do good, and choose to see the best in your friend that you see in yourself.

My friend, Paul "Sequence" Ferguson(www.sequence.net), has been highly favored by God! His musical talents, and other attributes make him one special person. He is the consummate musician, arranger, film-scorer, Wall Street money manager, champion martial artist, teacher, Fifteen year military veteran, father, cancer fighter, and if you're blessed like me to know him, a real friend.

Personally, I never use the word "Friend" lightly, or too frequently. As a globe-trotting Jazz Musician, I've prided myself with the innate ability and God-given gift of discernment to talk and tune in to the hearts of people; be they pimps or Presidents of companies or countries. And I never choose my friends by what they've got or what they could give me( Mom and Dad weren't having that.). I was taught to never "measure a man by what he does, by what he gives, but rather by his motivations.

Remember, this was gonna be brief? Well, we can fix it in the mix! (lol)
Paul "Sequence" , my friend, is motivated by goodwill, gratuity, God, and his talents and mission(what a soldier!) to give the gift of hope and "remembered strength". He is a friend who gives what is needed: the ever present" I believe in you. To "let me do this for you" because I know how, so why wouldn't I?" Some of my fabulously famous and fortunate "acquaintances should take a course on "friendship with Paul.

Right now, I'm going to take a nap, as I rewrote this blog in long-hand. The first draft was lost. I guess I wrote the first draft; God wrote the final. That's another story for another day. And maybe a need to take a Tech class with Paul.
